Blair Park board Meeting Minutes for March 13, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m.
Present: Neal Jensen, Jeene Hobbs, Todd Wick, Joe Burns, Parks superintendent Pat Long.
No bills presented.

1. Arbor Day tree planting update: Tree planting is scheduled at Library for April 26.
New business:
1. 2019 Parks and Cemetery Projects:
Pat long presented a long list of projects. The projects included Spring cleanup in all of the
parks, Triple Crown Baseball tournament, paving at cemetery, work on two playgrounds, Arbor
Day Celebration, Baseball, Clean up at Dana ball fields. Contracts have been signed for work to
begin at Tower of 4 Winds. The Optimist Park boat ramp rail system is ready to be installed,
when weather permits. Other projects include planting 20 trees, Gateway, as routine
maintenance. Pat Long plans to hire 8 to 9 seasonal staff to fill the 6 full time positions of 1200
hours each between the end of March and Thanksgiving. Another project is designing new gate
pillars and gates for the cemetery to be paid for by a benefactor.
2. Stemmermann and Steyer Projects
Estimates from two vendors on costs for playground equipment and installations have
risen considerably. The combined estimated cost for the Steyer Park and Stemmermann Park
projects is $188,297. The budgeted cost is $190,00. Architectural design of Steyer Shelter will
have to be put on hold until the next budget and work put off until 2020.
3. Friends of Arboretum meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, 2019.
4. A resident has requested a handicap swing be added to one of the city playgrounds. The
estimate cost of an adult platform swing would be $3,000.
The meeting was adjourned for lack of a quorum at 7:50 when Joe Burns had to leave.
