2019-08RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 8.
COUNCILMEMBER STEWART INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS, Richard "Rich" Warrick was a devoted employee to the City of Blair and its
citizens before his death on October 15th, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Rich's dedication to his work and to the improvement of Blair for the benefit of
Blair's residents was exemplary and is to be commended by the City of Blair, its Mayor and City
Council, its employees and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Rich, as a volunteer and employee of the City, was dedicated to serving and
helping provide for the recreational needs and facilities of the community to better serve its Citizens,
particularly the youth; and
WHEREAS, Rich's passion was to annually provide a facility/area that would allow the youth
of the community to enjoy the winter outdoor activity of ice skating; and
WHEREAS, the City of Blair has acquired the property located at the northwest corner of
19th and Front street for perpetual use by the City as a multi -use area to include temporary storm
water retention and winter ice skating area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BLAIR, NEBRASKA, that the above property owned by the City of Blair and
located at the northwest corner of 19th and Front Street shall be dedicated and included into the City
of Blair Park System.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the memory, character, and spirit of Richard "Rich" Warrick
should be retained and memorialized and, therefore, the above dedicated park shall be named the
Rich Warrick Memorial Park.
COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ,
WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER WOLFF. UPON ROLL
CALL, COUNCIL MEMBERS STEWART, RUMP, WILLIS, ANDERSEN, WOLFF, JENSEN
AND HALL VOTING "AYE", AND COUNCIL MEMBERS NONE VOTING "NAY", THE
MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 12TH
DAY OF FEBRUARY 2019.
