2019-07RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 7
COUNCILMEMBER RUMP INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS, the City of Blair entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the Blair Public
School District No. 1 of Washington County, Nebraska through Resolution No. 2017-31 on August
22, 2017, and
WHEREAS, that agreement provided for the City of Blair to assign on uniformed police
officer and a marked police car to the Blair Public Schools for the School Resource Officer
Program (SRO), and
WHEREAS, that agreement provided for the Blair Public Schools to pay a per diem rate
for each day the SRO is performing the duties of the SRO, which per diem rate will be equal to
one-half of the total annual cost of wages and benefits payable to the SRO divided by 186, and
WHEREAS, the Blair Public Schools has requested a waiver for this payment for the use
of the SRO for the remainder of the 2018/2019 school year due to budget restraints and is asking
the City to pay full wages for the Officer and allow him to continue as the SRO for the remainder
of the 2018/2019 school year.
WHEREAS, the terms and conditions thereof are acceptable to the municipality.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Blair hereby waives the wages as previously agreed upon in
Resolution No. 2017-31 for the SRO for the remainder of the 2018/2019 school year.
SECTION 2. This Resolution is hereby adopted and accepted by the City of Blair and the
Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute same on behalf of the
municipality.
COUNCIL MEMBER RUMP MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ,
WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER HALL. UPON ROLL
CALL, COUNCIL MEMBERS STEWART, RUMP, WILLIS, ANDERSEN, WOLFF, HALL
AND JENSEN VOTING "AYE", AND COUNCIL MEMBERS NONE VOTING "NAY", THE
MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS
12TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 2019.
