Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes, July 11, 2018
Call to Order: Blair Park Board vice-president Jeene Hobbs called the July 11, 2018 meeting to
order at 7:04 PM.
Present: Jeene Hobbs, Todd Wick, Betsy Anderson, Joe Burns, Parks Superintendent Pat Long.
Approval of Minutes:
Betsy Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 13, 2018 meeting. Motion
was seconded by Todd Wick. The motion was approved.
Approval of Bills :
There were no bills presented
Old Business:
1. Lions Park Restroom update:
Pat reported that Lions Club volunteers and city workers have completed the exterior painting
of the facility. Toilets and sinks have been installed, but waiting for bracket for siunk and
counter top and installation of sink and countertop in the family bathroom. Sod has been
completed and working to water. Facility opening/ ribbon cutting to take place after family
bathroom floor sealing and counter top installation is completed. “Waiting on a few more
items to be finalized and we will be done.”
Stier Park playground on hold. Pat said everyone has been working on Lions Park bathroom.
Pat hopes money for playground will be carried over until next year.
2. Check for playground surface reimbursements from NDEQ: The city has received $12,200
payment from NDEQ for playground surfacing.
3. Dana softball fields: Fencing company replaced 12 panels and installed walk-in gate.
Dugouts are all fenced in. Roofs are done. Pat said the city is still waiting for Cubs baseball to
do the painting. Pat said his department will do the painting if Cubs don’t. Cost of outfield
fence will be rolled into the sewer project.
New Business:
1. Friends of Aboretum: Date for July Arboretum meeting has not been set, but likely to be on
Thursday July 19 or 26.
2. Passageway Church will be power washing the deck at the Depot and start staining the
following week.
3. Discussion of mowing and trimming at Black Elk Neihardt Park. Mowing and trimming on
some trails and trimming around disk golf pads is inadequate.
4. Jeene Hobbs commented that dedication plaques on trees in parks are deteriorating.
