1. Lions Park Restroom update:
Pat Long updated progress on the new restrooms at Lions Park. Lions Club volunteers will paint
the exterior. Blair Historical Preservation Alliance has donated money for improvements. The
money will be used for the exterior paint. City crews are installing insolation. Hopefully the
restrooms will be completed around July 4.
2. Discussion of other park improvements:
Pat Long reported that the city as asked to receive alternatve bids for the Steyer Park play
ground surface area to compare the cost of wood fiber mulch and crumb rubber with the
poured in place rubber surface. Jeene Hobbs encouraged Pat to make sure and include the cost
of maintenance of the loose surface with the poured in place surface. She asked if there is
anything we can do as a board to try and push this. “ This is a very small amount of money
when compared to the overall city budget.”
Pat reported that fencing at the Dana softball field will not done this year due to construction of
a sewer line for the new houses. He said the new roofs on dugouts and storage building and
announcers booth have been completed. The dugouts still need to be painted.
A Passageway Church Volunteer team will power wash and stain the Depot deck.
Jeene Hobbs asked about progress in establishing a committee to revise rules for reserving the
Depot and other park facilities. Nothing new was reported.
3. Update on trails at Black Elk
Pat said that the mowing crew had opened up the trails that were overgrown on the south-
west section of the park.
Neil Jensen adjourned at 7:48. Following the meeting, the park board members toured th Lions
Park restroom project.
