Thank you for your recent communication regarding the fundraising status of the planned
playground improvements at the Blair Youth Sports Complex. Since our $10,000 grant was
announced on March 30, 2017, we understand that local donations and a large in-kind donation
are sufficient to complete the playground, and that our grant is no longer needed for the project.
We will now cancel our $10,000 grant effective with this letter. We wish you continued success
in your work on behalf of the Blair community.

PROJECTTITLE: Playground improvements (Matthew's Playground)
at the Blair Youth Sports Complex
Set forth below are the conditions of the grant awarded to your organization by Peter Kiewit
Foundation. if you wish to accept the grant, please sign and date this Letter of Understanding and
upload it to your grant account by April 30, 2017.
1. KIND AND AMOUNT OF GRANT. A challenge grant in the total amount of $10,000.
2. USE OF GRANT FUNDS.
a. This grant is to be used to fund playground improvements, as more fully described in
the grant application. Grantee shall repay the foundation any portion of the amount
granted which is not used for this purpose.
b. Peter Kiewit Foundation grant funds cannot be applied toward fundraising, campaign
expenses, debt service, or endowment.
C. Grantee shall not use any of the grant funds to carry on propaganda or otherwise
attempt to influence legislation within the meaning of section 4945(d)(1) of the
Internal Revenue Code (IRC); to influence the outcome of any specific public election,
or to carry on, directly or indirectly, any voter registration drive within section
4945(d)(2) of the IRC; to undertake activity for any purpose other than one specified
in section 170(c)(2)(B) of the IRC.
d. Grantee shall maintain records of all receipts and expenditures on this project and
make its books and records available to Peter Kiewit Foundation if requested.
3. MATCHING FUNDS.
a. Funds disclosed in the application ($27,535), will be recognized as a partial qualified
match for Peter Kiewit Foundation funding. Grantee shall develop the balance of funds

needed to complete the project ($14,080) in new cash contributions or firm written
pledges by October 31, 2017.
b. in-kind contributions, or their assessed dollar value, will not be recognized as qualified
matching funds without the prior written consent of Peter Kiewit Foundation.
4. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. A final written report is due to Peter Kiewit Foundation by
October 31, 2017. This report shall include:
a. Project update (including goals, achievements, challenges, measures of progress, and
any changes to the project as it was described in the application);
b. Budget Update (side-by-side comparison of proposed project budget versus actual
project budget, including explanations of variances greater than 10 percent);
C. Fundraising Summary (including sources, amounts, and dates received/pledged);
d. Simple photographs of the completed project; and
e. Written certification from the project manager that the project is 100% complete and
available for its intended use.
5. COMMUNICATION WITH PETER KIEWIT FOUNDATION. Grantee shall promptly notify Peter
Kiewit Foundation of any significant changes to the project (budget, scope of project, timeline,
fundraising, etc.) or within the organization throughout the grant period.
6. DISBURSEMENT OF GRANT FUNDS. Grant funds will be disbursed within 15 business days
following notification to Peter Kiewit Foundation of project completion and the satisfaction of
the terms and conditions set forth above, including submission and satisfactory review of the
final report.
7. FAILURE TO COMPLY. Failure by Grantee to comply with the terms listed above may result in
the reduction or cancellation of this grant by Peter Kiewit Foundation.

By signing this document, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the grant as set forth
