Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes
5/11/16
The Blair Park Board met on May 11, 2016 with the following board members present Neil
Jensen, Joe Burns, Todd Wick, Jeene Hobbs, Steve Tonn and Parks Superintendent Pat Long.
Neil Jensen called the meeting to order. Jeene Hobbs moved that the minutes be approved as
mailed. Joe Burns seconded the motion. Motion carried. There were no bills presented
Old Business:
Pat Long, Parks Superintendent, reported that the trees were planted for the Arbor Day event.
The trees had to be planted before Arbor Day due to wet grounds. The students helped with the
mulching of the new trees. There was great newspaper coverage.
New Business:
Pat Long reported that Dick’s electric will be in Lion’s Park in the next few weeks to place the
electrical lines underground to the park shelters. The work should be completed before Gateway
to the West activities. HGM will hopefully meet soon with the Lion’s Park restroom
subcommittee (Todd, Steve and Jeene) to discuss design plans for the restroom. Dawn Nielsen
or Marty Rump, Depot Restoration Committee, will be invited to attend the restroom meeting.
Jeene Hobbs moved that the slate of officers be Neil Jensen, chairperson; Jeene Hobbs, vice
chairperson; Joe Burns/Steve Tonn, co-secretaries. Todd Wick seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
Friends of Arboretum meeting is May 18.
The June Park Board meeting will be at a City Park beginning at 7 p.m.
Jeene Hobbs volunteered to research the use of the City Parks shelters.
Pat Long reported some repairs must be made on the city tennis courts.
