bolts and approves of the installation of them. What you have sent is specifications. Fire Marshal approval and a door
landing to code will be also needed to finalize the building.

This memo is being written in response to your request for an opinion of the capacity of
the metal building column anchorage to an existing mat foundation. At this time, our
understanding is a new metal building measuring 60'-0" long and 24'-0" wide was
constructed on an existing four foot thick mat foundation. The anchorage to the mat
foundation utilized (4) 3/4 inch threaded rod anchors with Red Head Epcon A7 anchor
adhesive with an embedment of 12 inches at each column. The city of Blair has
requested a structural opinion fetter on the capacity of the anchorage.
After a review of the Chief Metal building drawings, details sent by you, and the
following assumptions:
• The anchor bolts are grade 36ksi
• The adhesive was used in accordance with the manufacturer's
recommended installation instructions
• The existing concrete pad has a minimum strength of 3000psi
It is SDG's opinion the above indicated anchorage would be adequate to resist the code
prescribed loads. Finally, SDG makes no warranties for the connection, metal building
or foundation. Our letter is solely limited to our opinion of the ability of the column base
anchorage to resist the code prescribed loads.

RE: Special inspection of anchor bolts installed in hardened concrete

We have completed the final inspections required by IBC 2009 Table 1704.4 Required Verification and
Inspection of Concrete Construction, Item W Inspection of anchors installed in hardened concrete.
Our inspections have found that the installation of the anchors comply with the approved construction
documents and additional specifications provided by Structural Design Group. We did not find any work
to be non-compliant therefore no remediation is required.
