Dear Property Owner:
This is a courtesy letter to notify you that we have received a complaint regarding cracked and
sunken sidewalk panels on your property located at the above address. This is a violation of the
following municipal codes:
Code Description
08 -505 MAINTENANCE SIDEWALK; LIABILITY. Every owner of a lot or tract of ground within
the City shall at all times keep and maintain the sidewalk along and adjacent to such
property in good and proper repair and in a condition reasonably safe and suitable for
all lawful travel thereon, and if any such owner shall fail to construct or repair any
sidewalk in front of his, her or their lot, lots or lands within the time and in the manner
as directed by the Mayor and Council after having been served with notice to do so
either in writing signed by the City Clerk and attested by the seal of the City or by
notice published in a legal weekly newspaper published in or of general circulation in
the City in one (1) issue thereof, such owner shall be liable for all damages or injury
occasioned by reason of the defective or dangerous condition of such sidewalk and the
Mayor and Council shall have power to cause such sidewalk to be constructed or
repaired and assess the cost thereof against such property
We would appreciate your repairing /replacing this sidewalk within the next thirty days. Your
property will be re- inspected for compliance on October 14, 2013.
