Dear Hr. Hipnar:
As the attorney for the City of Slair, I have discussed with l~od
Storm, City Administrator, the permissibility of a wholesale
parts business in the light manufacturing coning district. It is
our opinion a wholesale auto parts business would be permissible
based upon the representations you have made to the City and our
assumptions on those representations.
Specifically, it is our understanding ttie Pates would be sold at
a higher volume for a lower price than a normal auto parts retai:L
business. In addition, it is our understanding the parts are
being sold.to entities other than the general public for the
ultimate use. In other wot'dss, the parts are d.iseounted to busi-
nesses which in turn either retail them to or utilize them in
repair to the general- public. No salvage or wrecking operation
wherein a vehicle is stripped or dismantled producing the parts
is permissible within the light manufacturing district.
It is also our position the operation of a towing business and
storage of towed vehicles until disposition would also be permis-
sible. Again, no salvage or ~,rec>ting operation is permitted on
these vehicles, and they must not be dismantled or stripped i.n
any location in the light manufacturing zoning district.
Again, we would caution you a general retail auto parts business
is not permitted in the light manufacturing district, and the
parts operation must be conducted ota a wholesale basis.
